Diamond Valley Lake was built by MWD to hold extra water for Southern California in case an earthquake damaged the Colorado River Aqueduct. Because of the draught, California’s largest water reservoir, Diamond Valley Lake, is running dry and the low water level has a much bigger effect than just on boating and fishing. It means that we are running out of water and need to conserve water.
